A Food Safety and Quality Consultant with a total of 36 plus years of extensive Canadian experience,

experience of food safety in Asia, the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East. Educational qualifications

include Master of Science in Food Microbiology and Master of Business Administration

from University of Guelph, ON, Canada.

Has Guided, Assisted and evaluated CFIA clients (registered Establishments) in the development and implementation of Food processing, Food Safety and Food Quality Control systems. These are Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems using Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP) and or Quality Management program (QMP); Compliance Verification Systems (CVS). The criteria in these systems is used to maintain client’s individual HACCP systems and registration of their facilities as defined by national and International Food safety legislation/regulations/agreements. Such as, recommended by codex Alimentarius, GMPs and Principles of food safety, hygiene and sanitation etc.

Specific contributions in Food Safety and Halal Certifications include:

Assisted food manufacturers in Food Safety Program development and management
Regulatory experience in HACCP system inspection and Auditing the food manufacturing (slaughterhouses to food processors) companies in Canada under the federal government (CFIA)
Food Policy, legislation, inspection, auditing guidelines their development and implementation.
Halal food certifications and global Halal system development
Import/Export certifications and compliance to exporting country requirement
Sanitary food transportation systems, storage and distributions
Training the trainers, training needs assessment, Developed training modules and lesson plans for food manufacturers in HACCP system maintenance and troubleshooting
Food Safety investigations and traceability systems.
Member of International working committees on Halal food regulations and their compliance to recognized food safety programs such as HACCP; ISO systems.

Imam Dr. Hamid Slimi

Dr. Hamid Slimi is an Academic scholar, a professor, a spiritual leader and a Community Developer. He is:



(1) The current chairman and senior lecturer of the Canadian Centre for Deen Studies (a Muslim Theological Seminary for educating and training future Imams and chaplains). He is also a visiting Professor of Islamic Studies at different local and international Universities and colleges including Indonesia, Morocco and Turkey.
(2) The Resident Scholar, Imam and Founder of Sayeda Khadija Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Since 1997 Dr. Slimi has been serving as an Educator, Imam, Chaplain and Consultant in Canada in different religious and educational institutions.
(3) The Founder and President of Faith of Life Network (A Charitable organization focused on providing spiritual and educational programs as well as bridge building with other faiths for peace building and harmony). 

He is also: (1) The Former Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams (2006-2013), (2) Lecturer at the Islamic Institute of Toronto (2005 to 2016), (3) Consultant on National and International issues related to religion and spirituality, Islam and Islamic Law, religious dialogue and Social issues, (4) Board member of different Interfaith and Community bodies/groups, (5) TV Host & Producer of Faith of Life TV Shows and documentaries and (6) CEO of a Management and Marketing Solutions Business in Ontario.

Dr. Slimi’s traditional and academic speciality is in Islamic studies and Law as well as Comparative World Religions. In addition to the traditional degrees known as Ijazah, he holds two Masters degrees with High Honors in both disciplines from Morocco and the US and a PhD in Islamic Law from the U.K. He received both his traditional and academic learning in Morocco and attended other renowned institutions and universities in other parts of the world.

From 2009 to 2019, Dr. Slimi was been featured by Georgetown University as one of the 500 Most influential Muslims.

Dr. Slimi has been involved in the Halal industry for more than 26 years and understands most of the challenges it faces in North America. He has developed booklets and guidelines for many institutions and businesses on Halal matters.
